The role of nuclear energy in the production of electricity continues to grow in importance as environmental issues put increased pressure on the generation of electricity from other sources. The presentation will give an overview of the present status of the domestic nuclear power industry and the outlook for the future. Issues such as performance of the current fleet, operating license extension as a bridge to the future generation of plants, strategy for the future of the industry, security, political and used fuel storage will be addressed.
